Fishing
Anglers can enjoy outstanding saltwater and freshwater fishing in the
clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Sailfish,
marlin, grouper, dolphin and wahoo wait for deep sea fishermen, while king
makeral, cobia, mangorove, snapper and fighting tarpon challenge near-shore
boaters. Speckled trout, largemouth bass, bream, stripers and catfish abound
in the freshwater lakes, rivers and streams in the areas west of Ponte Vedra.
There are six major sportfishing tournaments in the area between April and

Tennis
Two nationally acclaimed tennis resorts are located within 5 miles
of each other in Ponte Vedra: the ATP Tourtm
International Headquarters, where championship courts of every surface
style are used by the world's top tennis pros, and the posh Ponte Vedra
Inn & Club, named one of America's top five tennis resorts by Tennis
Magazine. There's also the Marriot at Sawgrass Resort which features eight
clay courts.

Some of Florida's most challenging and scenic courses are found in the Ponte
Vedra area. From the renowned Tournament Players Championship (TPC) Stadium
Course at Sawgrass, home of the annual PGA tournament Players Championship,
to the many other fine courses peppered throughout this community perfectly
suited for the golfer of any handicap.
TPC, one of the largest and most prestigious golf resorts
in the country, has signature par 72, 6,857-yard course designed by Pete
Dye and is ranked 7th among "America's Best Resort Courses"
by Golf Digest.
Guests at Marriott Sawgrass Resort also have access to
two private courses nearby, the Oak Bridge Club and the course at the
Marsh Landing Country Club - which meanders through some of the most gorgeous
North Florida scenery. Select your clubs carefully for play in the tidal
ponds, lagoons and marshes.
