Clewiston
Named after a Tampa Banker A.C.Clewis in 1920, Clewiston is famous as a center for Florida sugar growing and is located at the southern tip of Lake Okeechobee (Seminole for "Big Water" ), which is 750 square miles in size, with an average depth of 14 feet. It is the second largest freshwater lake wholly within US territory, and is the lifeblood of Southern Florida.

Clewiston is also well-known as a Bass fisherman's paradise, with superb fishing opportunities. The Seminole Tribe of Florida is 12 miles west, with the Big Cypress Billie Swamp Safari, which features swamp buggy eco-tours, airboat rides, authentic Seminole village, Museum, and reptile and alligator exhibits. For the adventurous, there's Air Adventures sky diving, as well as tennis and golf. The Clewiston Museum tells the story of the area, including the sad story of the disastrous hurricane of 1928.
