Steinhatchee Landing Resort
Justin keeps a watchful eye on "goings on" at the resort. He never meets a stranger. He tries to be everyone's friend.
Pet Vacations

Justin, our 7 year old, 20 pound Maltese, is a serious traveler. His suitcase is filled with the pleasures and necessities of life. His happiness is most important to us. Like other dogs, Justin is happiest when he is with his "parents," at home or on the road.

The resort has 35 acres of landscaped and wooded grounds for you and your dog to enjoy. Half the trees are oaks, loaded with acorns and more squirrels than your pup has ever seen. Justin goes squirrel chasing twice each day. His lack of successful kills has not discouraged him at all.

Our 30 rental cottages, featuring one, two, or three bedrooms, are privately owned. Nine of the cottages are available for pets. Dogs are not allowed in the pool. However, for water lovers, the Steinhatchee River offers unlimited swimming and boating opportunities.

Because we have a petting zoo with goats, ducks and chickens, we generally do not allow dogs weighing more than twenty-eight pounds. We are required to gain the homeowner's personal approval before we can confirm reservations for larger dogs. We will happily ask the owner if you are certain your pooch can be controlled around farm animals and smaller dogs.

There is no charge for your pet. However, a security deposit is required and an inspection performed prior to checkout.

Justin visits with friend and guest, Miss Bailey May, a frequent visitor from the Orlando area.
Traveling with your dog is rewarding, but it also means added responsibility on the "parents." Pets should be well disciplined, socialized and understand and respond to basic commands such as stay, stop, come, and let's go. A leash is essential when arriving at a new destination.

We ask you to keep your pets off the furniture. Always carry a lint brush or dust remover with you. If Fido sleeps with your bring a bed cover to put on top of the bedding. Always feed your pet in the kitchen or bathroom, never on the carpet. Place a newspaper or towel under the food dish.

Always be considerate of other guests. Remember, some people don't like dogs.

Carry plastic bags and paper towel for clean up duty. If your puppy causes damage to someone's property, offer to pay for its repair or replacement. Following these basic guidelines assures you, your pet and the resort's other guests a relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience. It also keeps us and your pets welcome when we travel.

HAPPY MOTORING TO YOU AND YOURS!
